Short Term Reciprocal Exchange between INDIA - GERMANY in the summer of 2017.
Program Description- The program is a reciprocal and individual short-term exchange between AFS-INDIA and AFS-GERMANY. Participants will stay in the family of their respective exchange partner. Indian participants live with their German exchange partner’s family during their stay in Germany and attends school together with their exchange partner. Similarly, the German students live in India with their Indian family and join their exchange partner in the same class at school.
Duration- 2 month program each (For Sending and Hosting)
Program Datelines-
- Dates for Indian students going to Germany- 29th April-24th June, 2017
- Dates for Germany students hosted by Indian participants- 14th July- 8th September, 2017
Eligibility Criteria-
- Student should be between 15 to 17 years old at the time of exchange.
- Student should have knowledge of basic German or is committed to learn it before going on the program.
- The participants family and school MUST host the German student during the hosting duration of the program.
Program Fee- Approx Rs. 50000.+Airfare+Visa Fee+Insurance
Application form- Students have to fill in the standard AFS application form + 2 page host family application form (attached)
Application deadline- 10th Jan 2017.
Total Spots for the program- Between 5- 10(depends on Germany's recruitment of participants)

A wonderful opportunity for students from middle income group who are deserving but cannot afford complete expenditure for one year program.
Annual Volunteer Meet 2016
Annual Volunteer Meet 2016
Annual Volunteer Meet 2016 was held at Delhi from 23rd Oct
to 26th Oct. The venue for the meet was Anya Hotel, Gurgaon. On 23rd
after Welcome and Opening ceremony, Accountability Session was held followed by
dinner. On 24th , the invitees were segregated into 3 groups. One
group attended Level W training, the other groups attended Volunteer
Development Training and AFS Education goals. In the evening AFS Adventure was
held, followed by a Gala Dinner. Dress Code of the dinner was blue.
On 25th again volunteers were segregated into groups of 4.
One group attended Leadership Training and for other groups Peace Education
training was held in three different rooms, which was followed by Higher
Studies in US and ICL Fast Track.
On 26th, which was the last day of the meet, AFS Mandi was
organized successfully, where different Chapters showcased the culture and
tradition of their respective regions. It was a competition for which all the
chapters worked really hard for winning. AFS Mandi was followed by the Award
Ceremony. Indore Chapter managed to bag 6 Awards. Indore Chapter received Best Reporting Chapter, another award
for School creating Global citizen
was bagged by Daly College, Best Hosting
School was also received by Daly College, Outstanding Volunteer award was received by Shivala Sharma of Indore Public School, AFS student Ambassador award by Shruti Bishnoi of St. Raphael’s, Best Stall was bagged by Indore
Chapter. After the lunch we all said good bye to all the friends with fond
memories in our hearts.

The award categories are as follows:
The Galatti Award 2016
Established in 1983, the Galatti Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service honors AFS volunteers whose longtime commitment, dedication and exceptional journey with the organization have advanced the mission and goals of AFS.
The Young AFS Volunteer Award 2016
Established in 2015, the Young AFS Volunteer Award for Outstanding Service recognizes young AFS volunteers whose creative ideas, fresh perspectives and boundless energy have made a difference advancing the mission and goals of AFS.
The #AFSChangeMaker Award 2016
Changemaking is in the DNA of AFSers. Our volunteers facilitate intercultural experiences that are as life-changing to themselves as they are to AFS program participants. AFS volunteers dare to create change, and that can be translated into innovations in our internal processes and operations, as well as into positive impact on local communities addressing the pressing challenges of our times. #AFSChangeMaker Award intends to honor this change making capacity.

Announcement of Result: 5th December, 2016
Application Criteria: The applicant must /should
· be registered with the chapter
· be an Active Volunteer (min one year)
· be involved with the activity that have helped in achieving the vision and mission of AFS leading to its growth and development
· have attended atleast one event at regional/national level
NOTE: The initial screening will be done at the National level. Only the shortlisted names would be further shared with AFS INT. A single applicant can apply only for one category of awards. In case of multiple entries, the applicant will be disqualified.

Some Moments to Cherish!
AFS Exchange students Ester and Madison from Daly College enjoyed the hospitality of Mrs. Roma Shah at her home on 23rd July 2016. Mrs. Roma showed them how to apply Henna on their hands and make different designs with it.She also helped them cook 'Vegetable Biryani'. The students had a great time experiencing Indian culture and Mrs. Roma's Indian hospitality.
